Underwear sampling and development

Make the sample answer the right questions.

Sampling is a development stage for a proposed bulk collection. Agree what the sample should establish, then use clear references and versioned comments to move towards an approved specification.

01

Start with what you already know.

A finished tech pack is useful but not essential for the initial conversation. Send the wearer, styles, target market, estimated garment quantities and a reference for the product you want to develop. State which decisions remain open.

If you have an existing specification, identify the base size, measurements, materials, construction and branding. Separate requirements that must be retained from changes you want the team to review.

02

Agree the purpose of each sample.

Not every sample settles all four areas. Record what was reviewed, which changes are requested and which decisions are still pending. Identify the sample and specification version when giving feedback.

Sample focusQuestions to settle

BrandingElastic artwork, labels and placement

03

Confirm the commercial route before bulk.

Sample charges, minimum quantities, timing and production feasibility are confirmed for the actual programme. DALI does not publish a single minimum or fixed lead time for every fabric, style and pack.

Before bulk production, align the approved garment reference, material specification, colour/size quantities, artwork and packing instructions. Any agreed tests and inspection criteria should belong to the same final brief.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Before the next step.

Is sampling available for a proposed bulk order?

Yes, the sampling route can be discussed alongside the intended bulk programme and its commercial requirements.

How quickly will samples be ready?

Timing depends on the materials, construction, artwork and sample objectives. The team confirms a schedule after reviewing the brief.
