RANGE NOTES / BUYER GUIDE
Compare the fabric, not only the fibre name.
Cotton and modal describe different fibres, but neither name defines a finished underwear fabric. Compare the actual blend and construction against the garment and the sample objectives.

Ask for the complete material specification.
Cotton is a natural fibre; modal is a regenerated cellulose fibre. For underwear, either may form part of a blend. Confirm the actual fibre percentages, including any stretch fibre, rather than treating the headline fibre as the entire composition.
Add the knitted construction, finished weight, usable width and stretch directions. These help explain differences between two fabrics with the same headline fibre. A branded fibre request should also identify the actual fibre and fabric specification.
Use the garment to define the comparison.
A brief, bralette and boxer brief can place different demands on the material. Test the proposed material in the relevant construction rather than transferring an approval from one unrelated garment.
| Buying question | Material information |
|---|---|
| What should it feel like? | Physical swatch and handfeel reference |
| How should it fit? | Stretch directions, recovery and pattern reference |
| How much coverage is needed? | Weight, construction and garment sample |
| How will it be cared for? | Care expectation and agreed evaluations |
Avoid claims the specification does not prove.
A fibre name alone does not establish a particular durability, skin benefit or environmental result. Similarly, “bamboo-derived” requires an accurate fibre identity and is not a reason to add an antibacterial claim.
If organic content, recycled content or a particular branded fibre is required, identify the claim and relevant documents before approval. Keep the material identity and supply scope tied to the actual development.
Make the choice useful across the range.
Set the preferred material reference and record any style-specific alternatives. Agree how shade, elastic and gusset materials should coordinate, with a separate specification where a different blend or construction is used.
DALI can review cotton-rich, modal and other material options with the garment and elastic requirements. Send the swatch or reference, intended styles, quantities and market so the team can assess the proposed collection rather than comparing fibre names in isolation.
